So, why are we celebrating all those great mums out there? Well Mother’s Day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent each year, so this year it lands on March 26th. Mothering Sunday is the correct celebration in the UK and Republic of Ireland, whereas ‘Mother’s Day’ is the American equivalent. Traditionally Mothering Sunday was the day when children - mainly daughters - who had gone to work as domestic servants were given a day off to visit their family. However, we in the UK have adopted the Mother’s Day term to celebrate the same day, after the war.
